Mundari

(images in this post not my own)
I learnt about a tribe called The Mundari when I watched a program called 'Walking the Nile'. It is a documentary that follows an explorer as he treks through Africa and on his travels he comes across the tribe. What is striking about them is how tall and strong they are despite mostly consuming only milk (and the odd fish) according to the presenter. He stated that 'they looked like they live off a diet entirely made of steroids and that they wouldnt look out of place on an NBA Basketball court, rugby team or super heavy weight boxing ring.'

I find this inspirational. I know milk can be great, delicious and nutritious..but not the everyday kind you find in the supermarkets.. I wont go into the details of how the need to mass produce and make a profit drives the quality as well as buying price from farmers down, or what happens to the milk in the stages between picking it up from the farmers and selling it in the big superstores. All I know is supermarket milk seems harmful.

There is untampered milk at local farm shops and it is so delicious. Its rich, full of fat and nutrients and its good for you. So good maybe having the real fat could stop you craving the fake one in the form of creamy dense food (like chocolate bars).

The hero of the day for me is Guernsey milk, and it happens to be the most refreshing post work out drink. It is the best thing to have, on its own or with breakfast, in the morning.Works wonders in baking and is one of the secrets to a great hot chocolate (any real full fat milk can be substituted)

I know they sell Jersey and Guernsey milk at supermarkets but my best advice is, get your milk from a farm shop, unpasturised.

             - And dont forget the cream, yoghurt, cheese and butter as well. You can thank me later-
