Somewhere in a very picturesque, pretty English village called Hinton St George there is a pub called The Lord Poulett Arms, where I have had the second best burger in my life out of all the burgers I have had all over the world..(many different cities in 3 out of the 7 continents) and I have tried plenty. Sorry shake shack, I love you but you got nothing on my top 3 favourite classics
More about Hinton St George , I am here to talk about the food.
Lord Poulett is a 17th century pub and inn with plenty of character. While they offer beds as well, I have only been there for meals. In the summer they open up the back doors to their award winning garden.
In the winter the candlelit and cosy pub is kept warm by an incandescent glowing fire.
The portraits on the wall seem to be watching you while you move between the rooms and the menu leaves you torn because all of it really does sound delicious.
The last time we were there we shared cream of beetroot and fennel soup, full of flavour, and an autumn baby vegetables gnocchi that tasted like it was no competition to any other autumn's dish.
